Meet Our Missionaries

Marsha has been involved in ministry for her whole life—in music ministry, education and in missions ministry wherever she lived in Texas. She has two grown daughters, 8 grandchildren and one great grandson. Representing the Oak Hills church, she traveled to Natal and Recife Brazil to encourage missionaries in 1999, soon after the death of her husband. It was there that God called her to become a missionary.

Ministry Work

Marsha became a member of Pioneer Bible Translators after teaching 28 years in public schools. After studying linguistics and literacy at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics, she spent a year in France to prepare to work in French West Africa, assisting Bible translators Greg and Rebecca Pruett. Living in a village in Guinea, she learned the local language and taught women and children to read their language as the Yalunka Bible translation was being finished. Also, she taught public school teachers there to teach Yalunka literacy in their schools. While working in Guinea, Pioneer Bible asked Marsha to travel to Sudan several weeks per year to teach literacy among language groups who had a printed Bible but no literacy skills. After 5 years of doing that, Marsha was invited to relocate to Sudan. She lived there until 2016 when her mother had a stroke that necessitated their move from Sudan to the US. In 2-24 Oak Hills church requested that Marsha come to San Antonio to assist in the global outreach department, tasked with caring for at least two dozen missionaries on the field, and with engaging the entire church in that work.
