Meet Our Missionaries

Greg grew up at Oak Hills Church and after going to Guatemala on a Short-term mission trip with Pat and Carol Hile, he committed his life to long-term missions. He majored in Civil engineering at Tx A&M University where he met Rebecca who grew up in a Christian Church in Beaumont Tx which partnered with Pioneer Bible Translators. They married, completed their academic education together at Fuller Theological Seminary and Summer Institute of Linguistics, and combined their callings to live in a West African village and translate the Bible into Yalunka, a language which had never been written down. They raised their three children there and besides translating the Bible, they worked to involve the Yalunka people in planting fruit tree and palm oil plantations to raise their economic status and hosted young people who came from the US as missionary interns each year. 

 Ministry Work

Greg and Rebecca were called back to the US to assume the presidency of Pioneer Bible Translators in January of 2006. Rebecca became Director of Training for PBT and has since served to develop curriculum and teach courses in linguistics and Bible translation. Greg has overseen the construction of three PBT buildings and authored two books: Extreme Prayer and Extraordinary Hearing. Their home in Grand Prairie, TX usually has missionary guests and/or college-aged children of overseas PBT Missionaries living there. Greg participates in meetings with leaders of all Bible Translation organizations to combine efforts to provide God's Word to all language groups in the world. They travel to PBT mission fields all over the world and support ongoing evangelistic efforts among the Yalunka villages in West Africa by cell phone and by in-person visits.    

Prayer Requests

• Pray for God’s protection as they travel the world to oversee their ministry. 
• Pray for guidance and strategies for reaching language groups in closed countries of the world and in places where Christ-followers are being persecuted. 
• Pray that God will continue to raise up leaders, missionaries, and translators in coming generations so that there will be churches with scripture transforming every language community on earth by 2050.
