Meet Our Missionaries
Mary Helen and David joined Pioneer Bible Translators twelve years ago. David has served in Scripture Impact, Donor Engagement, Trauma Healing, and as a Formation Team Coach for Deaf trainees. Mary Helen has been Deaf Group Director, Assistant Director, Area Care Coordinator, Trauma Healing Facilitator, and Formation Team Coach. In January, they became full-time Diaspora Trauma Care Coordinators, with Mary Helen continuing as Area Care Coordinator for the Deaf. Trained by Pioneer Bible Translators master trainers, they use Trauma Healing Institute resources and are Trauma Care Master Facilitators in Training. They have facilitated trauma care groups several times each year. Trained by PBT master trainers, they use resources from the Trauma Healing Institute. In 2025, they hope to facilitate a healing group under the oversight of PBT’s Trauma Care Coordinator. Once they achieve Master Level, they can move on to their next chapter. In 2025, they hope to complete Master Level and begin their next chapter.
Ministry Work:
As Diaspora Trauma Care Coordinators, Mary Helen and David will travel to five U.S. cities—Clarkston, GA; Louisville, KY; Dallas, TX; St. Louis, MO; and Philadelphia, PA. In 2025, they plan to visit each city where Pioneer Bible Translators Diaspora teammates are established. Their goal is to listen to teammates and language group leaders, offering encouragement and introducing Trauma Care principles. They also aim to train leaders to support their communities through pain and suffering. May God’s Word bring them hope, healing, and forgiving hearts.
Prayer Requests
- We ask for God’s Holy Protection on us physically and emotionally. The darkness and despair we will encounter as we hear stories from these communities will need to be carried by His Holy strength.
- We ask for God’s help scheduling our travel to these cities. We are both very involved with King George, VA, the city in which we live. David serves as an elder at a fairly new church plant where he is often asked to preach and is currently serving on the local public-school board. Mary Helen is involved in Women’s Bible Study groups and prayer ministry.
- Join us in asking Holy Spirit to fill our Member Care team with the wisdom needed for this role.
