Recovery Banner

On July 4, 2025, many people experienced unimaginable loss as communities along the Guadalupe River were overwhelmed and devastated by flooding. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn with the families who have lost those they dearly loved. We are praying for families as they grieve and preparing to walk with these communities as wherever we can help restore what was destroyed.

How to Volunteer

JOIN THE OHC VOLUNTEER EMAIL LIST
Are you looking for a way to help restore and strengthen families who are picking up the pieces after the recent flooding? Oak Hills Church is preparing teams to support disaster recovery efforts throughout the Hill Country.
We are currently gathering names of volunteers who are ready to serve. As teams are formed, you’ll receive an email with details on how to register for specific opportunities. Sign up here to join our volunteer list and to receive updates: Join the Email List

SERVE NOW

We are now forming small teams to serve with our trusted partners in home cleanouts. Each Oak Hills team will have a designated Oak Hills leader to guide and support you on the job site.

Please select from the partners below to view available dates and times, and register to serve with an Oak Hills team:

No Disaster Recovery training is scheduled at this time. When training is scheduled in the future, it will be held at 19595 IH-10 West, San Antonio, 78256.

LOOK AHEAD
National relief groups typically serve for 2–4 weeks. We are preparing to be here long after that. Small teams from Oak Hills have already begun to serve, and we’ll be coordinating larger efforts in the coming months as logistics are made clear. Please remember recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. We’re so grateful for your willingness to serve, and we hope you’ll remain ready and engaged in the weeks and months ahead.

Caring for Families

There are many families who are part of our church family who live in Comfort and Kerrville that need us to walk with them through this difficult time. We are contacting every family to find out how we can help them overcome this disaster. Please let us know if you become aware of anyone in our church family who has been impacted by the flood. We are here to help and support them both spiritually and physically. Contact our Care Coordinator, Desiray Pool at 210-698-4693.

We will pray and prepare as God reveals the ways we can support the Hill Country communities. Please continue praying that God will comfort and strengthen families. Additional information will be provided as opportunities to serve become available.

Radical Generosity

We are grateful for the generosity of our church family.

You have provided $25,000 for cleaning up the debris and muck in homes through our partner "Just Help One."
We are grateful to Scott Shipman who provided safety training for more than 400 OHC volunteers to help our neighbors.

We have distributed Disaster Recovery funds to Convoy of Hope ($15,000) and Samaritan’s Purse ($15,000).
We will continue looking for ways we can help with future needs as we learn more.

Prayer Service

Oak Hills Church opened our Worship Center Wednesday, July 9, to lift up the communities who have been devastated by the flood. We prayed, lamented, worshipped, and read Scripture. We will continue to intercede on their behalf, asking God to be merciful, to comfort those who are suffering, and give strength in the moments when they feel overwhelmed with grief.

We know that God hears our prayers and has promised that we can turn to him when we are weary and heavy laden, and he will give us rest.
