Trip Focus: Healing Ministry for Teen Girls (For Women Only)
The OHC team partners with Casa de Ester in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Casa de Ester (CDE) is a ministry that provides physical, spiritual, and emotional support to girls who are victims of abuse, bringing healing and transformation through Jesus. They also provide educational, vocational, and transition assistance to these young ladies. During our time at CDE, we will build relationships and minister to young ladies and teens who have been victims of trauma, abuse, and neglect. Founder Michael Perry grew up at Oak Hills Church. He and his wife Valina led Casa de Ester from 2015 to 2023, when they transitioned leadership to the local Honduran staff.
Tentative Schedule:
January 11 (Travel Day): Depart San Antonio, TX, travel to Casa de Ester in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. We will spend the afternoon getting to know the girls before returning to the Hotel to prepare for the days to come.
January 12-14 (Ministry Days): After a morning devo, we will walk to CDE for breakfast, devo / journal time, and ministry time. We end the day with worship before returning to the hotel for our nightly team devo.
January 15 (Rest Day): Free day for the OHC team. We will be flexible based on conditions to eat out and bless vendors. We end our day visiting and encouraging the girls of Casa Legado, the transitional home.
January 16-17 (Ministry Day): Similar schedule to days above with evening sharing and celebration.
January 18 (Travel Day): Depart Honduras, fly to San Antonio, TX, and arrive late that night.
Trip Details:
Total Trip Cost: $2300. Trip cost includes airfare, meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, interpreters, bottled water, ministry supplies, etc. OHC MUST arrange all airfare travel.
Food and Lodging: We will stay at a hotel near CDE. All meals are at CDE, where we get to fellowship with the girls.
Team Meetings: We will have several required team meetings prior to our trip focusing on building team unity, learning about the culture and planning for our in-country service.
